Living In The Age of Computers

Throughout life we have relied on machines or animals to help us with the process of work and play. This has been a long standing tradition as people have developed a need for this type of help.

We are constantly appealing to the powers that be to make the changes that will bring us a more full and appealing life with the help of their machines.

This is the case when it comes to the computers. There was a time when there was not a computer in every home. People relied on other things to make their lives much easier.

The earliest small computer that people would use would be the calculator, a device for nothing more than mathematical calculations. Taking that would be the best idea for those in need.

The times started to change and we began to rely on computers more and more. We have come to a point where the largest companies are using computers for every thing and all parts of life are being interacted with these machines.

That means that we are living in the age of computers and therefore it stands to reason that we should develop some skills.

Over time things will still begin to change. However, at the current moment we are still not completely reliant on the computers. There are still facets of life that require the human connection. Science tells us that this is very much necessary.

A world that is completely run by computers is one that is very scary indeed so we must be careful about what we wish for.

The Coming Years
In this article we are speaking of the personal computers but the computers were not always so personal. There was a time when they were large, bulky and very slow.

Some of the earliest computers took up rooms the size of small homes and did very little other then run some math calculations. They put off so much heat that a person had to wear protection to enter the room.

Several companies spent millions of dollars trying to slim the computers down and make them commercially available. They were successful but the price was well beyond that of the average person.

The early personal computers had a price tag that was around ten thousand dollars for the bare bones model and could reach twenty thousand with much software.

So the computers were still out of reach of the normal every day person but the changes were coming. That meant that people were starting to get interested and the time came that they wanted a computer.

By the late nineties the computers boom was on and people the world over were making it happen. They finally developed the skills that were necessary.

Down the Road
While we think that we have a good bead on things we can see that things will always change. No matter what you do there is the chance that things will get worse if you are not careful. However, with the computers you will see that things will always get better eventually.
