That means that you should be using some kind of backup program that is not linked to your main hard drive.

In many cases the computer will start to give you warning signs that a failure is coming. It may slow down or certain programs may fail to respond like they should. That is something that tells you that there is a problem.

When you know the warning signs then you can prepare. Do not use the computer for anything other than backing up your imperative data.

Virus Protection
If your computer is shared or if it goes on the internet you should be very careful about virus protection. There are many nasty viruses out there that can cause failure in the hard drive and so on. That means that you should be watching out for all things.

Be on the lookout for strange things to happen and when they do run the virus cleaner that you have to protect yourself and the computer.
